Rovers- Woods, Warren, Mcintyre, Nicol, Penney, Sutherland, Minnett, Kirkwood, Maamria, Sheridan, Maxfield. Subs used- Hume, George
The Rovers collected their sixth point of the season and with a bit more goal scoring prowess could have have collected all three. Rushden arrived at Belle Vue having won all but a draw and a defeat. In the first half an hour the Rovers played the better football but could not get a breakthrough. Sheridan's 30 yarder was the best attempt. Rushden picked up four bookings inside the first half hour, and the Rushden number 7 should perhaps have walked for a late challenge, and maybe on another day he would have walked. But we failed to score and Rushden began to get into the match. In the 52nd Minute, Maamria tackled the Rushden keeper, and as he rose to slot the ball home the keeper dragged the ball back into his area, and brought down Maamria at the same time. we should have had a penalty and the Rushden keeper should have walked. But, nothing was given and from the resulting move, Adrian Foster then popped in a header at the far post. This was harsh on the Rovers, but we created some chances in between, Woods making a good stop with his foot from a one on one. The Rushden keeper made an amazing save from a far post header and it looked like we were crashing to another defeat. But, enter Hume, replacing Maamria, in the last quarter. 89mins on the clock, when Sheridan's quick free kick results in a ball for Hume to crash home at the near post. The crowd went wild, and there was an amazing noise. The ref soon blew for full time. The crowd roared a great point won.
